October 10-12, 2025 | Jefferson, TX
There’s nothing quite like the open road, good friends, and riding for a cause—and that’s exactly what the Dallas Harley Owners Group (DHOG) did October 10-12 as we rumbled east for the annual East Texas Burn Run, benefiting pediatric burn victims.
Friday: Kickstands Up and Spirits High
We rolled out early Friday morning under clear, golden skies—the kind of Texas morning that makes you glad you ride. With Brett Moore leading the pack, we cruised through the winding backroads and towering pines of East Texas. Every mile felt like freedom.
Our lunch stop? Davidson’s in Gilmer, a local gem known for its down-home cooking and charm. Fun fact: Gilmer is the hometown of Don Henley of The Eagles, and something about that small-town vibe made “Take It Easy” feel like the day’s anthem.
By afternoon, we rolled into historic Jefferson, a town rich with charm and ghost stories. Some of us checked into the Excelsior Hotel, built in 1859. Legend has it Steven Spielberg stayed in room 215, got spooked by ghostly goings-on, and left in such a hurry he checked into the Holiday Inn. Supposedly, the eerie experience inspired Poltergeist. A few DHOG members may or may not have their own spooky stories from that night…
Friday Night Vibes: Bikes, Bands, and Beers
The Burn Rally is an intimate but lively gathering, with a solid lineup of vendors, tasty eats, and good vibes. Friday night we headed to Auntie Skinner’s, the heart of Jefferson nightlife, where 80s cover bands lit up the stage and the drinks kept flowing. Think leather, laughter, and a soundtrack that had us dancing like it was 1985.
Saturday: Caddo Lake, Gators & Poker Hands
Saturday brought the Burn Rally Poker Run, taking us on a scenic ride around the hauntingly beautiful Caddo Lake. With stops at eclectic joints and roadside curiosities, we kept our eyes peeled for gators—and even Bigfoot, who, according to local legend, rides a Harley and smokes a gentleman’s pipe.
While the creature himself didn’t make an appearance, Greg did find some gator—fried up nicely at Big Pines Lodge. Bold move, Greg.
Back at the rally, we caught the Bike Games, shopped the General Store, and soaked up the camaraderie that makes these rides unforgettable.
Saturday Night: Pizza, Stories, and Laughter
Dinner was at Tony’s Pizza, where great food and belly laughs capped off an incredible day. Tales of the road, jokes about gators, and maybe a ghost story or two—this is what DHOG rides are all about.
Sunday: Heading Home with Full Hearts
As we rolled out Sunday morning, the East Texas air still crisp and clean, we carried more than just gear—we brought home new memories, friendships, and a deep appreciation for the cause we rode for.
The East Texas Burn Run may be a small rally, but its heart is huge, and we were proud to be a part of it.
