Spring is coming, and man what a great time to get out and see this country on 2 or 3 wheels. As members of DHOG we have tons of opportunities to ride. Whether you like large groups, or small intimate groups, we have it all.  We have the DHOG scavenger hunt that is NO COST to do, see the rules on the Facebook page, you can do this solo, or as a large group, or just 1 or 2 friends or all of the above. We have several road captains that are leading day trips and overnight trips to some of the scavenger hunt items.  We have several HOG rallies coming up, rides being led to the Cajun Country Hog Rally in April in Scott La., we have a group riding to Yuma AZ for the Southwest Regional HOG Rally in April, The Texas Independence Traveling HOG Rally in late October as well as a whole bunch of other rallies and festivals.  If those aren't your thing and you like to ride by yourself check out the ride 365 program that HOG sponsors and look at the 50 rides 1 nation challenge and the 10 rides for 24.  The 50 rides 1 nation challenge is 1 destination in each state and those destinations don't change. The 10 rides for 24, are 10 specific destinations that are only for calendar year 2024, these destinations change each year.  I am leading a ride to two of the destinations this year, The Last Republic of Texas International Boundary Marker in Carthage Texas, as well as the world's Largest Pistachio in Alamogordo NM, on our way back from the Southwest Region Hog Rally in YUMA, AZ.  We ride every Thursday night to dinner, every chapter meeting we have a director's ride after, where we ride to lunch.  Most weekends someone is leading a ride somewhere.  If it's your individual skillset on that bike that you want to work on and learn how to truly control that machine, every Tuesday night Mike Savage and Ken Rideout do a training class in the parking lot at St Micheals church in Mesquite that is no cost to you, and man they are  EXCELLENT TEACHERS and love to help you learn how to dance with your horse.  The key is to get on that Harley Davidson motorcycle and RIDE. Make sure you participate in the Ride 365 Mileage challenge; your HOG membership rewards you for logging your miles and you can earn up to 150 bucks in Harley Gift cards just for riding and logging your miles. That pays for your membership twice. We in the DHOG chapter have many opportunities to do motorcycle stuff that you can have every weekend packed if you want. We have many people who just like hanging out with other motorcycle enthusiasts and talking and doing cool motorcycle stuff. Most of my friendships revolve around bikes and bike things. I have gained some of the best friends in the world by getting involved in the Dallas Harley Owners Group. We hang out together, we vacation together, we help each other when we are down, we lift each other up when we need it, but best of all we each understand what it means to have the freedom of the open road on a motorcycle. It is hard for non-bikers to understand what that means, and how it makes us feel alive and full of life. We all JUST GET IT!!!!!!   Get out and get behind bars and just go, maybe no destination, just make a series of turns when you come to that proverbial fork in the road.  Who knows where you might go, but rarely is the person lost, who is on 2 wheels, his destination just has not been destined. Ride safe my friends and keep the rubber on the road.
