Ride Challenge 2025

Ironman - Doing Epic Sh*t

Ironman - Doing Epic Sh*t

Most of the DHOG group knows I LOVE TO RIDE my bike. ALOT, a long way. I don’t have a car, only a handful of motorcycles. I’m fortunate that my job is less than 3 miles from home, and I only work 3 days a week. Both of those give me a lot of freedom and opportunities. I’m also fortunate enough to have accumulated 6 weeks of vacation time every year. That coupled with the fact I can do my work schedule and work 6 days together and be off for 8 days straight and not use any of my vacation time, gives me the ability to do lots of miles.

Turtle and I have a soft spot for boys, we raised 4 of them, and when we learned of a charity, Mile Monsters INC, that raises awareness and money for and about the fight of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a disease that strips away the muscle proteins and leaves its victim and their families devastated.  We learned it affects mostly boys, usually diagnosed by the age of 6, and permanently planted in a wheel chair by the age of 10. We knew we had to get busy and help. There are currently 7 HEROES, as we refer to them, Gaven, Turbo, Drew, Brody, Jaxson, Alfie and Jack, that the MONSTERS of Mile Monsters INC helps in ways that most don’t. We are determined to give them the best life they have for whatever time they have. We don’t do anything medical, but if they need something to help them have a better life we get. Mobility Vans, motorized wheel chairs, iPads, Apple Watches, a chance to meet the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead stadium and get a meet and greet with every single player. Alfie and Jack are in Ireland, we don’t get to see them as often but they still have needs. We made arrangements recently for Alfie to get to see his favorite band in concert. It was AWESOME.

Many of you came out to the Monster Bike Night that Myself, Turtle and Scott Townsend recently put on, THANK YOU!!!  That was all to raise money to pay off Gaven’s Mobility Van. In September Turtle and I are headed to Brainerd Minnesota for the Bash and Crash. All 7 of the boys and their families will be in Minnesota for a week of fun. We have all kinds of stuff planned for them. I can’t wait. It’s also the Mile Monsters end of the year celebration to see what all we accomplished and set the vision for next year. We will see what is in store. When I ride, I try to take as many pictures and videos as I can so I can share them with our HEROES, most of them will never have the opportunity to climb on a motorcycle,  so we try and share our experiences with them. I say all of this to share this with you, my DHOG FAMILY. What we get to see, hear, smell and taste while on two wheels is something to cherish. There is no other experience like it ANYWHERE!!  Below is recent recap from my M79 ride, a fundraiser ride that happens every summer, 7 heroes, 9 weeks, each monster picks a day or a week  rides and raises money, but more importantly raises AWARENESS, and shares with the boys the experience that we had.

I hope you enjoy my recap and THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE MONSTERS AND HEROES!!

M79 is in the books. 1281 miles in 35 hrs 32 mins, with a 10 hour rest stop in New Iberia La. I hope all of the heroes enjoy the pictures, I had a great time taking them. From Texas to Natchez MS, on the Natchez Trace Parkway, to the hallowed ground that is the Lynyrd Skynyrd Monument in Magnolia MS. Onward to New Iberia LA, and riding the Creole Nature Trail and rollin through the Wildlife Refuge. It brought back so many memories of my childhood. I gre up in New Orleans and dad was in the oil business. Occassionally i would get to go with him to look at this and that. All up and down the  Gulf beach highway. Rode the Cameron Ferry across the River and skirted the gulf coast back into Texas via Port Arthur. The coastal towns are so much different that the big cities. I long for the past where things were slower,we knew our neighbors and made time for lemonade and popsicles. We are all so busy now. It was a wonderful day and a half by myself, just rollin through Gods creation. Finished the day off at Bucees, with the beaver and a whole bunch of motorcycles and kickass cars. It’s time to wash the bugs off this machine and conjure up the next adventure. Minnesota HERE I COME!!!!

To my 7 HEROES, Gaven, Turbo, Drew, Brody, Jaxon, Jack and Alfie you have INSPIRED many of us to PUSH through ADVERSITY!!!  And we will GLADLY do MONSTER EPIC SHIT to THANK YOU !!!!!See you in September

Im still rasing money if you would like to donate
