The quilt that JD (parts manager)
won at the 2008 Motorcops for Kids Run was spectacular. Our
LOH showed off their skills with needle and thread that was
worthy of any State Fair Ribbon. The quilt had an
international theme along with the 105th Anniversary
bandana.
We picked the bandanas for the 2009 quilt
Saturday afternoon after the Chili Cook off. This years
quilt will be orange, black and gray. I am looking for the
sashing and backing fabric now. The quilting will begin as
soon as I get everything put together and on the frame.
Keep an eye out on the calendar for the Tuesday night
sessions. You wont want to miss them.
We need everyone
to start collecting Rally Bandanas this year. We
have three from previous rallies and would like to make
that the theme of the 2010 quilt. You might be the winner
yet. Ask JD. It only took him 7 years, but he now has his
own one of a kind quilts displayed at his home.
We will
welcome any bandana you find interesting as long as it has
a designated shop or rally. These have become a little more
difficult to find recently, but I am confident that we can
continue our annual quilt project. The bandanas need to be
cotton and not the new polyester stretchy ones. Stretch is
too difficult to quilt.
Our quilt becomes a treasury of
sites seen and places visited. Ask at HD shops that you
visit for their bandanas. Once they hear about our project,
often times their bandana will be donated. Find your
thimbles and leave your Tuesday nights
open.
Thanks Julie
